Nuclear Fusion close?

I won't hold my breath.

  1. Well it would be nice if this could work. We could say bye to coal plants and hello to nuclear fusion plants. The $100k fuel pellets having to cost $.10 a piece is a problem I dont see being fixed so soon. It sounds like the implosion of fuel is required to be constant to sustain alpha and neutron generation. If I read it right sounds like constant feeding of fuel followed by the occasional laser burst. The laser draws alot of energy to start off with so how efficient is this process again? I am sure that the technology holds promise to energy production, but I am certain that this form of energy production will be the most dangerous ever. Nuclear fusion has the potential to be disasterous. I am excited about the potential but I know that there is much work to be done to make nuclear fusion for energy production a reality. As a engineer I hope they take all the necessary precautions needed. I also wish I could be in on some of the designing. I think engineering fusion reactors would be really cool.
